START PREPARING FOR THE TCI GLOBAL CONFERENCE 2009!
300 international experts, 6 top-notch speakers, over 60 cases of competitiveness development and innovative working methods await you in Jyväskylä starting 12th October!
Programme and personal goals:
- Make sure you have taken a preliminary look at the programme. We want you to get as much as possible out of the conference so begin your journey already now by setting your personal goals!
- Make sure you have updated your participant profile (your background, your expectations for the conference) on the website before you arrive. Password has come from clusters2009@clusters2009.com. We will pick out one of the updated profiles and the person will be rewarded!
Practical issues:
- REGISTRATION: Make sure you have paid your conference registration and hotel reservation before you arrive. In case you have questions on this, contact Jyväskylä Booking at assistant@jyvaskylabooking.fi
- TRAVEL: To get to Jyväskylä, you first need to travel to Helsinki and then continue by plane, train or bus to Jyväskylä. The conference website has tips for travel and links to further information.
- SOCIAL PROGRAMME: Check from the conference registration confirmation which cluster tour and evening programmes you have registered to. Tours A, C, D and E leave from Jyväskylä Paviljonki at around 8 am on Monday 12th, Tour B leaves from Paviljonki at 12.45 pm. Some evening activities have special dress codes or other details to note. Check for practical information on the programme map. Also, if you think you might want to participate in the Learning Journey (only 12 participants), take some outdoor clothes with you!
- THURSDAY EVENING DRESS CODE: The conference main evening activity on Thursday night is themed with Finnish national epic Kalevala. We want to highlight the international character of the conference and therefore the dress code for the Kalevala Night is a national costume or something similar stressing your cultural background (of course keeping in mind the Finnish weather!).
- WEATHER: The weather in Finland in mid October is not just yet winter and it can be anything from bright and cool sunshiny days with autumn colors to more rainy weather. The mean temperature is around 10 to 5 degrees Celsius. It can go below freezing especially at night so remember to dress accordingly! But don’t worry, we hardly ever have snow or below zero temperatures in October. The sunrise is around 7.30 am and the sunset around 6 pm. Check here for detailed weather in Jyväskylä.
- CONFERENCE VENUE AND LOCATIONS: The main conference takes place in Jyväskylä Paviljonki. The Academic Summit on Tuesday 13th Oct takes place in Agora, University of Jyväskylä. You will receive more detailed information of evening activities and other sites once you arrive. Click here for a map service of Jyväskylä, with tags to main conference venues and hotels as well as the train station (‘rautatieasema / matkakeskus’).
- VISAS: If you need a visa to enter Finland and have not yet received a visa invitation letter from the Regional Council of Central Finland, contact us as soon as possible. For the letter we need your name, birth date, organization name and address.
- ACCOMPANYING PERSONS: As we have been notified of only very few accompanying persons, we won’t organize a separate programme for them. The Jyväskylä region has many interesting sites to visit, hotels and Jyväskylä Region Tourism Office (tel. +358 14 266 0113, address: Asemakatu 6) have lots of available information. The conference activities and evening programme are only included for the registered participants with a badge, but if there are free places the accompanying persons are also welcome to participate in exchange for a small fee. Contact the conference info once you get to Jyväskylä for more information.
